Language Arts with Ms. Schneider

Ms. Schneider teaches language arts, which involves both reading and writing. The school district has purchased a brand new reading curriculum this year that goes back to basics and includes spelling and grammar. This year, students will focus on poetry, figurative language, and non-fiction texts.

The reading block is 45 minutes long and consists of a lot of discussion between the students and the teacher through the shared reading model. Shared reading is whole group reading on grade level.

Expectations:
1.)Every student is expected to be prepared for class each day with their binder, 1 pencil, and 1 pen. They will be supplied with a daily reader in class.
2.Every student is expected to participate in independent reading at home (this can include magazines or anything of interest). In addition to this reading, they are to complete any additional reading or writing assignment in a timely manner.
3.)Every student is expected to follow classroom and school-wide rules.
4.)Most importantly, every student is expected to gain a new love for reading and storytelling!!
